To promote the textile industry in Uttar Pradesh, textile and apparel parks will be developed in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, and Agra.
For the development of the park in these three districts, developers will be encouraged to purchase land, which will reduce the cost of the project and enable entrepreneurs to set up their units easily.
This decision was taken in the meeting of the Government Sanction Committee held at Lok Bhavan under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Dr. Navneet Sehgal. He said that RFP was invited for the development of textile and apparel in the state.
Three developer companies have submitted RFPs. He said that meaningful initiatives are being taken in the direction of making Uttar Pradesh the hub of the textile industry and garments in an easy and simple environment for investment and favorable opportunities for industrial and commercial progress.
Dr. Sehgal said that one textile park will be set up in priority areas. The Department of Handloom and Textile Industries has planned to encourage private companies to develop integrated textile parks in collaboration with the private sector at various places in the state.
These textile parks will be developed and operated by private developers. The Government of Uttar Pradesh will provide the requisite cooperation in the operation of textile parks.
