Prayagraj Railways will not run unreserved fair special trains in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, due to the Corona period for the world’s largest spiritual Magh Mela. From Makar Sankranti, the fair starts in Prayagraj from 14 January. In this, devotees from the corners of the country, including Uttar Pradesh, arrive for a month of Kalpavas and take a bath. Though the railway board had asked for permission to run unreserved fair special trains to reach the devotees at the fair, it was not allowed in view of the Corona period.

Official sources said that at Magh Mela, devotees will be able to travel at par with seats in Magh Mela special trains running from different parts of Uttar Pradesh. There will be no movement on unreserved tickets in fare special trains. Given the outbreak of Corona, the railway is not ready to run unreserved trains. He informed that a guideline to travel on reserved tickets has also been issued for the fair special trains running on major bathing festivals. Passengers arriving at the fair will have to make reservations on special trains first.

He said that North Central Railway, Northern Railway, and Northeast Railway had sought permission to run unreserved special trains on the major bathing festivals of Magh Mela. The board did not allow unreserved trains to run. After this, Northeast Railway on Saturday announced to run fair special trains like normal special trains. Northeast Railway officials say that the board did not give permission to run unreserved fair special trains.
